I have a Vivoactive 3. I have no idea what this alert means. The watch will vibrate and it will display one of these two screens with no other information. When I tap on the screen or hit the button, nothing happens. It usually happens when walking the dog, or just taking a walk. I am not recording an activity, just wearing the watch.
Did a gym Comp yesterday in which there was a heavy rain downpour. And hour later my watch screen stopped responding to touch mid workout. Managed to turn it off. later that evening before bed heart rate and steps were working again. next morning no heart rate tracking (no green lights) no steps.

SONNI over 4 years ago. Noticed past posts from others who are having their watch HR monitors just stop working but I havent seen anything that looks like a permanent fix. My HR (Vivoactive 3) monitor died today - not happy. Seems quite reasonable to me that we expect our watches and their features to last longer than 12mths!
Addition : The readout on the watch face and in the heart rate app on the watch didn't match what registered in Garmin Connect, either in My Day or the heart rate graph. At one point the wtach heart rate app said 135bpm and later Garmin connect said 88bpm for the same time frame. After going back to the Garmin watch face, the HR shown on the

Heart Rate Monitor Problems. I have the Vivoactive 4s with firmware version 6.50. My watch has stopped periodically logging my heart rate (stress, sleep, and daily heart rate info is no longer available). The watch face and heart rate widget only show "---". Heart rate data is logged during activities (such as jogging), but that seems to be the
SAME HERE! VA3-Music. I have this problem multiple times per week. I shut it off, wait, and turn back on and SOMETIMES it works. If not, then I do a reset (HUGE PITA because I have to reconnect to phone, reconnect to wi-fi, reconfigure watch face and I lose my progress).
If you are using a heart rate monitor and it is not properly registering with the Vivoactive, try the following these steps: Put on the heart rate monitor, which activates the sensors in the device. (It will only transmit when you are wearing the device). Bring the device as close to the sensor as possible.
You also can set each heart rate zone and enter your resting heart rate manually. You can adjust your zones manually on the device or using your Garmin Connect™ account. Select the action key. Select Settings > User Profile > Heart Rate Zones. Select Based On, and select an option. Select BPM to view and edit the zones in beats per minute.
Hold the touchscreen. Select Settings > Sensors & Accessories > Heart Rate. Select an option: Select Broadcast In Activity to broadcast heart rate data during timed activities ( Starting an Activity). Select Broadcast to start broadcasting heart rate data now. Pair your vívoactive 3 device with your Garmin ANT+® compatible device.
The new vivoactive 3 is not by comparison, not by a long shot. It'll basically stay at 80 for the duration of the exercise - and this is biking with my hands hanging at my sides most of the time (or not moving around not held above my heart and the handlebars). In short the vivo 3's heart rate tracking is essentially nonexistent during a workout.
The heart rate sensor on the Vivoactive 3 follows that of the Fenix 5 and other 2017 watches, which records your heart rate at 1-second intervals constantly. This is a change from 2016 and previous watches, which were far less frequent (up to gaps of hours sometimes).
